MMG's DeLuca and Moore Elected to Fellowship

Neal DeLuca and Patrick S. Moore of Pitt’s Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (MMG) were among the 78 microbiologists elected to Fellowship in the American Academy of Microbiology on Feb. 1, 2011.  Fellows are elected annually through a highly selective, peer-review process, based on their records of scientific achievement and original contributions that have advanced microbiology.

The academy’s more than 2,000 fellows represent all subspecialties of microbiology, including basic and applied research, teaching, public health, industry, and government service.

Professor DeLuca’s research focuses on HSVI-mediated regulation of gene expression. Moore, the American Cancer Society Professor in MMG, specializes in human tumor virology (KSHV, MCV, and digital transcriptome substraction).
